Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce that Emre Keskin, Ph.D. has agreed to step into the new position of University Research Data Officer, reporting jointly to the Vice Provost for Research and the Vice President and University CIO. The position is charged to work with various stakeholders and coordinate efforts developing and sustaining research data governance and management practices.
Emre, who will begin on November 7, brings extensive experience in the areas of data management and analytics with prior leadership roles in higher education. Emre joins us from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, where they served as the Director of Information Technology and Data Analytics, and were responsible for the design, development, and implementation of various information systems.
Emre will lend extensive expertise and lead conversation about Harvard’s support of research data across the research lifecycle as well as organize and lead a data and analytics governance council. Among Emre’s first priorities will be engaging with partners across Harvard to assist with the coordination of our current University-wide Regulated Data Management and Oversight program. Emre will work closely with Scott Yockel in his role as University Research Computing Officer to ensure relevant policies, procedures, and compliance systems are developed and implemented across the University.
We are appreciative of the many people across the University who assisted in the recruiting of this critical leadership role. In particular, we would like to thank the search advisory committee, which included faculty and leaders from across the University, for the time, expertise, and indispensable advice they provided throughout the search.
Please join us in welcoming Emre to the Harvard community!
Sincerely,
